Applied psychology is a subset of general psychology the encompases all fields of psychology that use psychological principles, theories and methodologies to address problems in other areas including business management, mental health, education, product design, health, ergonomics and law. Applied psychology includes the fields of counseling psychology, clinical psychology, organizational and industrial psychology, forensic psychology, engineering psychology, human factors, occupational health psychology as well as several other areas such as sports psychology, school psychology and community psychology. In addition, there are number of specialized areas within the field of general psychology that have applied branches (e.g., applied cognitive psychology, applied social psychology).
